    The Dean Heritage Museum Trust is a charity active in safeguarding the heritage and culture of the Forest of Dean for the enjoyment and education of the community; now and for the future.

    The Dean Heritage Centre is the place to go for an introduction to the history and culture of the Forest of Dean.

    Brand new galleries and displays take you from the origins of the woodland and landscape through Medieval history as a Royal Forest, to the industrial age of iron and coal.

    Geology DisplayFree Mining Display

    See how Foresters, Freeminers and neighbouring farmers and tradesmen lived and shaped this unique area, which inspired the writings of Dennis Potter and others. Attractions include reconstructed Foresters Cottage, outside agricultural displays, pigs and chickens, cafe,craft shops, picnic area and barbecues.

    Opposite the centre is the starting point for a picturesque walk around Soudley Ponds. This woodland trail has recently been made fully accessible to wheelchair users. Ideal for a family day out.
